Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year

What a way to celebrate the tenth anniversary; this year the awards have broken a record, receiving more than 10,000 entries for the first time in their history.

We’re proud to have been the awards’ headline sponsor since 2011, with the buzz around the prestigious awards continuing to grow year on year. Over its decade-long history, the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year Awards has received over 70,000 entries from over 80 countries across the globe, with the photographer KM Asad, who captured last year’s overall winning image, hailing from Bangladesh.

This year’s global judging panel was once again chaired by food photographer David Loftus, joined by Fiona Shields, Head of Photography, Guardian News and Media; Susan Bright, writer and curator; Nik Sharma, Cookbook Author and Photographer; Alison Jacques, Founder, Alison Jacques Gallery; Chef Simone Zanoni, Restaurant Le George, Four Seasons, Paris and Rein Skullerud, Head of Photo Unit, World Food Programme.

We introduced The Claire Aho Award for Women Photographers this year – dedicated to the memory of Finland’s greatest female photographer – to encourage and celebrate women photographers across the globe. This now sits alongside the 24 other categories, including our very own Pink Lady® Apple A Day category.

This year, we also launched the Ambassadors’ panel which includes chef and global icon of gastronomic art, Ferran Adria, President of elBullifoundation.

Once again presented to you in a digital format from the comfort of your own home, we hope you enjoyed the online awards evening, presented by Fred Sirieix – the much-loved maître d’hotel, best-known for his appearance on Channel 4’s First Dates – who introduced this year’s spectacular array of captivating images which made the final cut in this year’s award categories.

The judging panel

This year’s global judging panel will have a new addition, with Chef Chumpol Jangprai. Michelin Star Chef, Co-Founder, Managing Director and Head Instructor of MSC Thai Culinary School.

Chef Chumpol is the Project Leader of local Chef Thailand, Master Chef, Co-Founder and Managing Director of “R’HAAN” Wisdom of Thai Cuisine Restaurant, BKK, Thailand and a Culinary Consultant of Minor Food Group Public Company Limited.

We’re really excited for such a talented Chef to join our judging panel, representing the best of South East Asian cuisine.
